 Avant-Garde is an extremely unique fashion. I think many celebrities dress in this fashion to receive attention and be remembered for what they have worn. A very good example would be Lady Gaga:

Performing in a tentacle dress which is very unique, this is a great example of Avant-Garde clothing. Celebrities want to have attention and what they wear gets them the attention quickly. I think Lady Gaga wears Avant-Garde to express herself though. She is a unique celebrity because she is open about her lifestyle and the way she dresses.
