Cyber Monday

In the U.S., Cyber Monday is the Monday following Thanksgiving, promoted by online retailers as a day for exceptional bargains. The term "Cyber Monday" was created by marketing companies to persuade people to shop online. The term was coined by Ellen Davis and made its debut on November 28, 2005 in a Shop.org press release entitled "'Cyber Monday Quickly Becoming One of the Biggest Online Shopping Days of the Year. I think Cyber Monday is a really good thing because everyone knows technology and I think shopping online is easier except for clothes. Technology is always advancing and I think this is a good way to get sales up because people are always shopping online.

Black Friday

Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving where Christmas shopping finally begins. There are extreme sales for Black Friday to give buyers a better opportunity to go in stores and buy what they want. A conspiracy for why it is called Black Friday is given in Wikipedia - "Many retailers report some of their highest profits on Black Friday. The black portion of the name, "Black Friday" relates to businesses recording their losses in red ink and gains in black. This tradition lives on in modern accounting software, hence the name." I think Black Friday is a great thing because prices are reasonable for people to buy. I think it did evolve into a commercial monster because every year something changes more and more to get buyers to go to stores.  I also do take part in Black Friday because I love the deals stores offer.

Marc Jacobs ' 80s Party

The party that Marc Jacobs threw was to die for because it was an 80s theme. So many people dressed amazingly and some didn't. My favorite looks of the night were these:

From the makeup to the clothes was beautiful and fun! I loved seeing these looks because the 80's was colorful and fashion friendly, meaning you would look cool in the most exotic pieces. The looks that didn't stand out were worn mainly by celebrities, They had a problem leaving their comfort zones. The looks being worn above are from BFA students.

Stages of Product Development

What I have read from the article on Entrepreneur.com was that in order to have a product you need to go through stages like soliciting your product to manufacturing. The steps in order to have a well-built product is throwing the idea out, not only to friends and family but strangers too. You have to know who will be buying your product. You also have to make your product entertaining enough for buyers and not choose low quality materials, it has to be appealing to buy. Even though you are putting effort into your product, you have to make a fair price for it because I would believe that if you have it fair enough more and more people would but it. You shouldn't overstock though, "Cash flow, shipping time, storage space and shelf life will dictate how much product you stock." was said in the article and I agree. The last thing to do would be find out where and who would be a great buyer to your product. This relates to what we have done in class because we all had to pitch an idea of products and make sure they were appealing to our buyers. We had to make sure of the time they would take to make, how many learning curves there would be, etc.

The Best Celebrity Looks From the Los Angeles amfAR Inspiration Gala

The best celebrity looks are something I kinda don't agree with because Hiedi Klum, Charlize Theron, and  Angela Lindvall, didn't have the best dresses. I thought they were dresseed basic.

Katy Perry's dress was my personal favorite. She looked like a Spanish dancer and I also liked how the colors worked with each other.

Balmain's Spring/Summer 2017 Fashion Show

Balmain's show was very modern and classy. The collection was eye-catching but not my taste. I didn't love it but it did inspire me somewhat to do something different than what normal people do.80 looks were shown in the collection. These looks were flowly and were bold. The materials were rainforest metallic fancy wear.
Balmain is a french fashion house and the head designer is Olivier Rousteing. He is a 31 year old French man. I think he can be an inspiration to anyone. He is young and very successful, He is carrying the Balmain name on his shoulders. I think Designers aren't and don't need to be more business inclined because they are creative artists and need to have their head in the clouds to produce pieces.

In My Wildest Dreams

If nothing could hold me back, I would travel to Japan to learn fashion because it is one of my biggest dreams to study over there. I want to be able to master Japanese as a language and learn more about the culture then I already do. After studying abroad in Japan, I realized it is somewhere I find in my future. I love the culture and the fashion, they are the biggest reasons I decided to learn the language. I would also be able to travel lots of places if nothing would hold me back. I don't want to open up a store or anything but I want to be able to see fashion from another country's perspective, especially Japan. I think it would be refreshing to be in a totally different environment and have to think on my own because usually I have to ask my parents about what I should do with my choices. I would also like to travel to other countries too.
